With spring right around the corner and restrictions being slowly lifted, art is ready to pop up in the capital city once again! The Nicosia Pop Up Festival, organised annually by the Municipality of Nicosia in collaboration with NiMAC, is finally bringing the agenda forward that was meant to take place in December 2020. Between February 25 and March 14 numerous art performances will take place at Theatro Polis OPAP.

Taking into account the epidemiological picture and the relevant protocols, the proposals selected this year concern the Performing and the Visual Arts.

First on the programme is a theatre performance by Enacttheatre, presenting a Greek-language adaptation of Eugene Ionesco’s play The Chairs. The play will be performed twice, first on Thursday and then again on February 26. On Sunday 28, a charming performance titled Clown Family will be presented at Theatro Polis at 11am by actors Natalia Panagiotou and Mohammed Awwad. The performance is suitable for all ages and nationalities as an imaginative, made-up language is used allowing spectators of all backgrounds to follow.

Six more events are part of the festival’s programme so far, ranging from dance to theatre and art performances. The full agenda can be found on www.nicosia.org.cywww.nimac.org.cy and the festival’s Facebook page, @nicosiapopup2020.
