Cypriot sailor Marilena Makri has won the bronze medal in the international laser class championships ILCA U21 taking place in Gdynia, Poland.
Makri finished third with a score of 40 after nine races, behind Italy’s Giorgia de la Valle and Ghiara Benini Floriani. She won two of the nine races.
The 18-year old sailor made her Olympic debut in the Tokyo Olympics in July, while she won the gold medal in the European ILCA U21 championships held in Montenegro in June.
The Cyprus Sport Organisation congratulated Makri for her performance saying she is “among the elite of world sailing.”
