Week nights in Nicosia have plenty to offer in the summer as annual festivals keep residents entertained with a rich cultural agenda. Faneromeni Arts Festival is back this summer and until September it hosts numerous performances and screenings at the outdoor amphitheatre of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.

Coming up on July 28 is the performance O Topos en o Adropos, a dance and music act inspired by the monumental work of the great Cypriot painter Adamantios Diamantis, The World of Cyprus. The painting, a charcoal and acrylic piece on Irish linen comprising eleven panels is currently part of the Leventis Gallery collection and influenced this upcoming performance greatly.

Cypriot composer Evagoras Karageorgis approached this art work musically and created a performance that revives elements of Cypriot folk tradition through modern dance. O Topos en o Adropos aims to take audiences on a journey of memory, celebration and nostalgia.

In August and September, the festival will host more outdoor film screenings bringing favourite movies for all. On August 4 the film Ghostbusters: After Life will be screened and on September 8 the Disney film Coco will bring a heartfelt story about music and family.

The festival will end on September 15 with a very special event, the performance The Magic Circle by the Yasemin group, involving a multitude of renowned artists, all of whom stand out in their fields. The inspiration for this show comes from the magical world of circus with a large and impressive production with actors, dancers, musicians, jugglers, acrobats, clowns, joined by a circus artist-acrobat from Colombia.
