Cyprus’ Сreditworthiness in 2019

Cyprus’ creditworthiness is expected to be reviewed eight times in 2019, according to the next assessments scheduled by credit rating agencies.

Among the four credit rating agencies, Moody’s is the only one that maintains Cyprus’ creditworthiness in ‘junk’ (Ba2), two grades below investment grade with a stable outlook, unlike the rest of the rating agencies who have already upgraded the island’s sovereign rating back to investment grade.

Moody’s is expected to issue the first of its two assessments on March 29, 2019. In 2018 Moody’s evaluated Cyprus’ creditworthiness only once, after having cancelled the first one because of the 2018 presidential election campaign that climaxed in February.
